IPO Review -- Hexagon Nutrition: Building a Nutrition Platform Beyond Supplements
A three-decade journey from micronutrient premixes to clinical nutrition now enters its second-generation chapter
The global nutrition industry is increasingly being shaped by two powerful forces. On one side, governments, multilateral agencies and public-health organisations continue to battle malnutrition through food fortification programmes. On the other, rising incomes, ageing populations and lifestyle diseases are creating growing demand for specialised clinical nutrition products. Few companies attempt to serve both markets simultaneously. Fewer still attempt to build capabilities across the entire value chain.
Hexagon Nutrition has spent more than three decades doing precisely that.
Founded in 1993, the company began life as a micronutrient formulations business. Over time it expanded into clinical nutrition, wellness products, therapeutic foods and international nutrition programmes. Today, it positions itself as a research-oriented nutrition company with operations across more than 70 countries and manufacturing facilities in India and Uzbekistan.
What distinguishes Hexagon is not merely the breadth of its product portfolio but its attempt to control multiple layers of the nutrition ecosystem, from formulation and manufacturing to public-health nutrition and branded clinical products.

Yet as the company approaches its stock market debut, investors face a more nuanced question. The story is no longer only about nutrition. It is increasingly about succession, capital allocation and whether a scientifically capable manufacturer can successfully transform itself into a recognised nutrition brand.
From Premixes to Branded Nutrition
At its core, Hexagon manufactures micronutrient premixes—customised blends of vitamins, minerals and nutritional ingredients supplied to food companies and nutrition brands. These premixes are used in food fortification initiatives, healthcare products and consumer nutrition applications.
