Ben Peters, a UK-based fund manager and co-founder of Evenlode Investment Management, makes a point of distance, both physical and philosophical. Speaking to the Basis Points podcast, he described a firm that deliberately chose to remain in the Cotswolds rather than migrate to the City of London, and an investment philosophy built not on chasing the market’s loudest stories but on sitting quietly apart from them. “Being away from the noise,” he said, “engenders a certain culture — the idea of being independent, of thinking in a contrarian way sometimes. I think right now is one of those times.”Equities
